Odela 2 Review: Witchcraft, evil spirits and the power of Lord Shiva – an incomplete but brave attempt!

One of the most talked about supernatural thriller films of 2025, “Odela 2” finally released in theaters on April 17 and is also streaming on Amazon Prime Video from May 8. Directed by Ashok Teja and written by Sampath Nandi, the film is a sequel to 2022’s “Odela Railway Station”. But did this sequel live up to the expectations of the audience? Let’s know in a detailed review.

What is the story?

The story again focuses on the village of Odela, where the spirit of Tirupathi (Vashisht N. Simha), the serial killer who was killed in the first part, is still at large. His wife Radha (Hebah Patel), who killed him, is now in jail. But mysterious events continue to take place in the village — a school girl arrives at the police station with Radha’s severed head! This is a sign that Tirupathi’s spirit is back… and his intentions are even more dangerous.

Now, the only hope is in one power — Odela Mallanna Swamy and his incarnate energy, Shiva Shakti (Tamannaah Bhatia). The film is rooted in faith, sorcery, and the mythological tradition of the Goddess Shakti.

Performances and characters

  • Tamannaah Bhatia has given a powerful performance as Shiv Shakti. The moment she comes on screen, the atmosphere really changes. Some scenes are so powerful that the audience will literally fold their hands in front of the TV.
  • Hebah Patel has maintained the seriousness and mystery as Radha.
  • Vashishta N. Simha has once again managed to instill fear.
  • And yes, Nandi Maharaj’s role is small but powerful – extra marks worth it.

Weaknesses of the film

While “Odela 2” offers a thrilling take on the religious and supernatural world, it also has several weaknesses:

  • There is no surprise element in the story. The villain is in front, the heroine is in front – there will be a fight and the film is over.
  • The special effects look very childish, as if they have been lifted from a TV serial.
  • The film slows down a lot in the second half and horror tropes are repeated, which takes away the thrill.
  • The lack of a solid twist is clearly felt – the “wow” factor that would have come is missing.

But some scenes are so powerful — like the darshan of Lord Shiva and Tamannaah’s divine avatar — that many viewers will forgive these mistakes.

Technical side

  • Sundarrajan’s cinematography wraps the film in a village atmosphere, and adds depth to the visuals.
  • The background music (Ajinesh Loknath) blends horror and spirituality well.

Final Conclusion: Should you watch or not?

“Odela 2” is a film that tries to play with the religious and mystical sentiments of the Indian audience. If you are interested in “Shiv Shakti”, witchcraft, and supernatural mysteries of the village, then this film is a must watch. Especially Tamannaah fans will love her different avatar.

Our Rating: 2.5/5 Stars
(Positives: Tamannaah’s performance, rural setting, some dangerous scenes Negatives: Old story, weak VFX, lack of twists)

Bonus Tip:

The climax of the film will shock you – what Tamannaah’s character did, and what happened to her – will leave you speechless.

🎥 If you want to watch an emotional but incomplete journey to the supernatural world, then “Odela 2” can be an option.
