Stolen (2024) Movie Review – A small packet but a big bang | Prime Video Hidden Gem

“Stolen” – A 90-minute film that will shake you from within.
If you are also one of those people who think that only masala, loud and over-the-top films are made in India, then “Stolen” will silence you.

This Hindi film released on Amazon Prime Video is a survival thriller, which not only makes your heart beat faster, but also makes you question both humanity and the system.

The plot of the film

Begins from a railway station… a mother, who is sleeping with her young child on the platform. Taking advantage of her sleep, someone steals her child.

In the very next frame, two brothers enter the story, who had come to the station only for marriage, but because of a viral video, they get caught in a crime which they never committed.

Who stole the child?

Is this mother lying herself?

Or are these two brothers innocent but have become victims of the system?

To know all this, you will have to watch the film, but believe me, once you start, you will not even know when 90 minutes will pass.

Acting & Performances

Bhai, Abhishek Banerjee is the soul of this film. But not just him — every single actor has given such a raw and natural performance, like you are watching a documentary and not a fictional movie.

There is no overdramatic music, no slow-mo shots — everything is so real and grounded that you will start imagining yourself in the shoes of those characters.

Thriller + Emotion + Social Message

“Stolen” is not just a story of child kidnapping. This film shows how a viral video on social media can destroy someone’s life.

By the time it reaches the climax, the film reaches such a depth that you will feel relieved and sad too – that such cases really happen, and those who get caught in them are never able to prove their truth.

Talking about film making…

  • One-take shots,
  • Real locations,
  • Car chase in the streets of a village,
  • Superb screenplay

…everything together gives a cinematic experience that neither bores nor makes you blink.

Names like Anurag Kashyap, Kiran Rao, Vikramaditya Motwane and Nikkhil Advani are associated with this film, and this itself proves that there has been no compromise on the content.

What is special in “Stolen”?

  1. Raw realism – inspired by true events, without any masala.
  2. Only 90 minutes long – tight editing, no unnecessary scenes.
  3. No abusive language or vulgar scenes – can be watched with family.
  4. Multi-layered storytelling – you will doubt every character and then pity them.
  5. Multi award winning film – the film has already garnered praise in international festivals.

Negatives?

If there is any complaint, it is that I wish the film was a little longer, like the backstories added in NH10. But perhaps that is also its strength – without any extra nonsense, straight cut to the point.

Rating (My Verdict)

“Stolen” is not just a film. It’s an emotional rollercoaster that shakes your conscience.

✅ Content – 5/5
✅ Acting – 5/5
✅ Screenplay – 4.5/5
✅ Rewatch Value – 4/5

Final Rating: 4.5/5 Stars

Should you watch it?

You should definitely watch it.

If you are a fan of movies like “NH10”, “Tumbbad”, “Talvar” or “Ugly”, then “Stolen” should be on your playlist.

But yes, people with weak hearts should not watch it alone.

Bonus Tip:

Keep your phone on silent mode during the movie because every scene is a mind game. If you miss even one second, the suspense will be broken.
