Bhai yaar, if I say what’s in my heart, it might be a waste…
But even then don’t say it – because movies like Kesari Veer are not seen every week, and not everyone can understand it.
Kesari Veer – Movie or TV Serial?
Kesari Veer, released in 2025, is a historical war drama based on the bravery of real-life Rajput warrior Hamirji Gohil – the same warrior who sacrificed his life to save the Somnath temple from the Mughals.
Hearing it, it sounds like the film will be as grand as Baahubali… but the reality? It turned out to be a bit different.
Starcast and performances
- Sunil Shetty’s comeback is the biggest plus point of this film. His climax scene is simply jaw-dropping – he literally tore the curtain!
- Vivek Oberoi once again does a great job in a negative role – his Tughlaq character is both dangerous and impressive.
- But Sooraj Pancholi and Akanksha Sharma – sorry to say – seem completely miscast. The overacting and lack of emotional connection is clearly evident.
Making of the film – Strong intentions, weak craft
Brother, if it is said in a film that “a warrior’s head was cut off, but he still kept fighting the enemies”, then you will think – wow! A blockbuster can be made on this.
But the biggest problem of this film is this – Execution.
- The level of VFX is so weak that the dogs of Roadside Romeo look real after seeing the CGI lioness shown in a scene.
- The sets and backgrounds sometimes look like TV serials.
- An attempt was made to copy the scenes from Bahubali, but without intensity and without scale.
Screenplay and Length – Dil Nahi Laga
In a 2 hour 25 minute long film, the real story is shown only in the last 20 minutes.
The rest of the time – fake romance, boring scenes and dialogues that lack substance.
The topic was very strong – but…
If the film was connected to history in a better way, if the director was more experienced, if the budget was managed properly – then this film could have made its mark somewhere between Kesari and Bahubali.
Because if you have never heard of a warrior like Hamir ji Gohil before – then believe me, it is a matter of shame.
Musical and technical aspects
Talking about music, the return of Shaan, Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan is a lovely surprise.
But songs alone don’t make a film work – unless there is a balance between visuals and acting.
Positive points:
- Sunil Shetty’s powerful comeback.
- Powerful battle sequence in the climax.
- Connection to patriotism and history.
Negative points:
- Weak VFX and set design.
- Wrong casting, especially the lead pair.
- Too much drag in the screenplay and a boring second act.
My rating – 1.5/5 stars
1 star only and only for Sunil Shetty.
Half star for the topic, which could have become a movie even better than Bahubali.
Final Verdict: Should I watch it or not?
If you are interested in history, and are a fan of Sunil Shetty, then you can go to the theatre and watch it once.
But if you are expecting good VFX, powerful acting and intense story – then wait a bit, maybe some other director will be able to make this story even better.
So friends, how did you like Kesari Veer? Do you agree with me or do you have a different opinion?
