TVF Gram Chikitsalay Review – Another masterpiece after Panchayat

Gram Chikitsalay Web Series Review – TVF’s New Dhamaka?

We have seen big actors and directors fail, but there is a name of three letters – TVF, which every time makes such a cinema without any noise that directly affects the heart. TVF means The Viral Fever, who gave us shows like Kota Factory, Panchayat, Gullak, Aspirants and Cubicles. Now the same team has brought a new series – Gram Chikitsalay, on Amazon Prime Video.

There are no big stars in this show, there is no big merchandising or promotion, but still this show can stand next to Panchayat – with heart, emotions, and story.

Story of the show:

This is a mini series of five episodes – each episode is about 35-40 minutes long. That is, the whole series ends in two and a half hours. The story is about a village, where there is a government hospital but there are no patients, and the villagers go to a quack doctor for treatment. Then a city-educated doctor Prabhat Sinha (M.O. sahab) is posted there. But the real struggle begins when the doctor realizes that the villagers do not trust him.

A strong actor like Vinay Pathak is in the role of a quack doctor, but his role is a bit limited. In the beginning, the story seems to be related to light comedy and village environment, but as the episodes increase, serious issues like politics and mental health come up.

Acting and Emotion:

TVF’s biggest strength is its casting – no big names, but every actor seems like they are the character. Amol Paras sir’s character is so real that you forget that you are watching acting. And just like the song “Hind ke Sitara” went viral in Panchayat, this show too has two such songs that you will remember at the first listen.

What is special and what is missing?

Plus points:

  • The story has depth, emotions, and the true colors of village life.
  • The acting is top class – nothing overdramatic, everything natural.
  • The music is very composed and effective.
  • The show feels like a time machine – connecting us to the village, childhood and old memories.

Minus points:

  • The show is based on a medical background, but there is less focus on medical details.
  • The fight between quacks and MBBS doctors could have been shown in depth.
  • The political angle feels a bit stretched and the speed of the show slows down at times.
  • There is no “wow moment” that can give a punchline to the show.

Final Verdict:

Gram Chikitsalay is a family friendly, emotional and real show. If you like shows like Panchayat, Gullak, then definitely watch this one. This show may not look that grand, but its simplicity is its biggest strength.
