So guys, the most awaited sequel of Raid franchise “Raid 2” is here, and Amay Patnaik i.e. Ajay Devgan has once again returned to his stylish but honest officer role. But this time he is going to raid the house of Dada Manohar Bhai, played by Ritesh Deshmukh – and brother, what a role he has played!
If you have seen the first “Raid”, then you know what the plot was – IT raid on the house of a corrupt politician. But the twist in Raid 2 is that this time the leader in front is a messiah of the public. The public considers him God, and Amay Patnaik has to raid him.
Slow start in the first half, but surprising twists in the second half
The film moves at a slow pace in the first half. Two songs come before the interval which break the momentum. But after the interval, there is a twist and tension in the story. Amay Patnaik’s dice and Dada Bhai’s moves make this film a game of minds. In the second half, Ritesh Deshmukh’s character looks weaker than before, but he has given a strong performance in every scene.
The real twist: The one who appears honest is actually a thief
The biggest shock of Raid 2 will come when you find out that Ajay Devgan’s honest officer is himself a scammer. And Ritesh Deshmukh’s leader, who is a god for the poor, is actually not as bad as the system makes him out to be.

Public confusion: No crowd in theatres but tickets are housefull?
People are booking tickets, more than 25,000 in 1 hour, but seats in the theatres are empty. Many shows are getting cancelled, and people are asking on the internet – who to trust?
Story and direction messed up: Sequel in name only
The film has neither suspense, nor thrill, nor the climax that was expected from a film like Raid. A talented actor like Ritesh Deshmukh was not used properly. Tamanna’s item song seems completely cut off from the story.
Positive points:
- Riteish Deshmukh’s grey shade character is interesting initially.
- Supporting actors like Amit Sial and Saurabh Shukla have done a wonderful job.
- It is family friendly cinema – no abuses, vulgar scenes or violence.

Negative points:
- Ajay Devgan’s character is overpowered but ineffective.
- The story is predictable and there is only drama in the name of thriller.
- There is carelessness in direction and the climax lacks power.
- An actor like Ritesh Deshmukh was sidelined in the second half.
One Line Review:
“Red 2 has made Red… but on the pocket of the public!”
Rating: 1.5 to 3 stars (depends on your perspective: whether you want to watch a family movie or want thrill).
